Nov. 6, 2023 — Wichita State University is home to nearly 5,000 first-generation students, individuals whose caregivers weren't able to complete a college degree and who lack the firsthand experience to tackle college life. To help with their transition, Wichita State offers a number of resources to first-gen students to support them during their time in college, including F1RST GEN SHOCKERS.

Oct. 26, 2023 - Support from the Rudd Scholars program helped Hallie Fritz adjust to college and find internships. She is active in the St. Paul Catholic Student Center and works at Credo Coffee Shop. Wichita State is proud of its role helping Rudd Scholars pursue passions and realize dreams in the state’s largest city.

Oct. 19, 2023 — The Association of University Research Parks (AURP) has awarded Wichita State’s Innovation Campus with the 2023 Emerging Research Park Award at its annual international conference held this week.

Oct. 17, 2023 - WSU seniors Emily Redfield and Cat Kee attended the National Stage Combat Workshop in Ruston, La. The three-week course offered instruction, testing and certification with weapons such as swords, shields, firearms, rapiers, daggers and quarterstaffs.

Sept. 28, 2023 — Kansas home values will continue to appreciate in the coming year, according to the 2024 Kansas Housing Markets Forecast series published by the Wichita State University Center for Real Estate.

Sept. 25, 2023 - Rudd Scholar Bayle Sandy found a sense of community at Wichita State University and enjoyed support from many sources for her academic and extracurricular pursuits. Sept. 21, 2023 — The U.S. Small Business Administration awarded $150,000 to Wichita State University to assist in providing resources and support for small businesses and startups focused on STEM and research and development.

Sept. 19, 2023 - Wichita State student Denae Sawyer spent the spring semester interning remotely with Dzanc Books. Her work consisted of reading and researching to determine if the manuscript fit Dzanc’s standards and sensibility. She also evaluated the potential audience and marketing strategies.

Sept.14, 2023 - Amy Nguyen uses the Rudd Scholars networking and mentoring programs at Wichita State. She made lifelong friends and participated in numerous campus activities. Wichita State is proud of its role helping Rudd Scholars pursue passions and realize dreams in the state’s largest city.

Aug. 4, 2023 — Wichita State University and WSU Tech are key drivers of economic growth, fueling job creation, fostering industry partnerships, and supporting local businesses — and the numbers prove it. According to the 2022 Economic Impact Study, WSU and WSU Tech’s total economic impact in Kansas in 2021 was $1.3 billion.

Aug. 1, 2023 — The Wichita City Council approved a plan today that will move forward a project between Wichita State University and the University of Kansas to build a 471,000-square-foot health sciences center in the heart of downtown Wichita.

May 21, 2023 — Wichita State graduate student Billy Berue will enlist in the President’s Own United States Marine Band beginning in June. The prestigious band was established in 1798 and is widely regarded as one of the best in the world.

May 19, 2023 — Marie Bukowski has been named the next dean of Wichita State University’s College of Fine Arts, effective July 9, 2023.

May 18, 2023 - Dean Rodney Miller will retire in June following 19 years leading the College of Fine Arts at Wichita State University. During his tenure, the School of Digital Arts was created and enrollment in the college has grown to over 1,000 students.

May 18, 2023 — Wichita State University was awarded $50,000 in prize money to catalyze relationships and develop Growth Accelerator Partnerships.
